A bare hospital patient room, a six month legal battle, and newly defined pedestrian lifestyle, What They Don’t Tell You When You Get Hit By a Car (WTDTYWHGBAC) is the debut of Living Skin, and a remembering of the events surrounding Jerome Wang’s car accident. WTDTYWHGBAC began with a private, artist-led “Emergency Room” experience to a select group of “victims”, followed by a public opening the next day.
Jerome uses medical equipment and hospital goods, handwritten statements, and impersonal technological devices to answer the question of What They Don’t Tell You When You Get Hit By a Car. Each statement opens miniature narratives of interpersonal hardships and that come with experiencing accidents such as these.
Exhibit closes on December 6th with the revealing of its final statement, documented through car dash cam footage and an interactive photo-station to create a wall of fictional police reports and mugshots.
